Welcome to the Rising Sun Bed and Breaky! There are just a few basic things you must follow consider before posting...
~Remember, this is a present day B&B, so no people dressed from long ago
~ Also, this is real life, meaning, use people from this world, no hobbits, elves, dwarves, dragons, pixies, faeries, etc.
~This being real life, please don't use any elvish or Tolkien-related names. You may use your own name, if you want
Have fun, and remember to follow the rules above!
How a B&B works:
A B&B is basically someone's house. You come in and pay for a room, and you get breakfast, along with dinner, maybe lunch. A B&B really lets you live with the owners and kind of feel how they move from day to day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Bed and Breakfast sat on a stone road, damp from the day's shower. It was dark outside, and the place looked warm and inviting through the glass windows. There was a small fire going. Three small cats, two black and white tabbies and a calico, sat curled up. One was on the couch, another by the fire, and another in a basket. One was fatter than the rest, and looked as if one were to have a heck of a time moving her. The calico looked like a cute little poofball, and the other tabby, curled up in a white basket, had a mean stern look as it slept, yet it looked so cute and sweet.
A woman who looked in her late twenties was bustling about inside. She was cleaning the place up as best she could. Her name was Michelle, but many called her by her middle name, Sarah. She wore her hair up. It was a bit messy, from the working. The calico cat stirred and walked over to Sarah. Through the window, you could see her pick it up, as the cat began to purr.
A sign was set in the window labeled, The Rising Sun Bed and Breakfast . In a smaller sign below it, it said, 'Run by, Michelle Sarah Levington'
A teenage girl walked in the room. Her name was Christine, and she was working with Sarah in the bed and breakfast. As she stopped to pet the cats, Christine saw Sarah cleaning. "Hello" she said "Hello Christine" replied Sarah, "will you go change the sheets" As Christine went to work, she thought about events that had happened in her life recently. "Okay, so I have the test on Monday, a party to go to on Friday, and hoping the HE doesn't call me all days of the week" The last thing Christing wanted was a phone call. To many bad memorys of phones ringing.
Walking into the room, she looked around to see Sarah and Christine. Who was she? Well, according to her birth certificate, she was Kryst Athene Blaze. But everyone just called her Kryst (pronounced like Krystal without the al, or... K-wrist, if that helps any ) a few people even called her Blaze, or KAB. She didn't care, she liked them all. She looked around the room, and saw her cat. Walking over she patted the cats each in their turn and then looked around. 'Missing something?' Sarah asked her, raising an eyebrow. Kryst shrugged and kept looking around. 'I think I dropped my key in here.' she said slowly, looking under the bed. Sarah folded her arms and looked at Kryst, who stood up at last. She grinned sheepishly, and saw her keys on the dresser. Jumping up and darting around the bed, Christine and Sarah, she grabbed them, and fled for the door. Sarah shook her head and went back to her work. You see, Kryst was pretty much...the centre of attention. Not that she wanted to be, she was just a big kid, really. She was around 26 years old, but you could probably never tell save her looks. She was about to walk out the door when she turned back, 'I'm going to the music store, do you want me to pick up anything on the way back?' Sarah handed her a list, as was her wont to do whenever Kryst was going to the music store. Luckily for Kryst, the market was close by there. She rolled her eyes playfully and took the list, then headed out the door. 'Bye Sarah, bye Christine!' she shouted as she went out to her car. ____________________Kryst came back, carrying a few bags of groceries, and her guitar. She opened the door, and nearly toppled over to the floor. 'A little help, please!' she shouted as Christine waslked by. Christine hurried over and helped her with some of the bags. 'Thanks.' she said as they headed over to the kitchen. Kryst put the stuf away, with the help of Christine. 'You got your guitar, I see.' Christine observed. Kryst looked over at her beloved guitar. 'Sure did. Can't wait to get back to playing it!' Kryst loved music, and she loved playing her guitar. She had a few, that she proudly displayed in her room. On some occasions, if the mood was right. Kryst would come out and entertain the guests with a few of her songs. When they had finished storing everything in its prospective spot, Kryst walked over to her room. She passed Sarah on her way, and stopped her short. 'Yes?' Sarah asked. Kryst took out the wrinkled list and began to harp about what Sarah had asked her to buy. 'Every week, I go to the music store, and every week, you hand me another list. Now, I don't mind running out and getting this stuf, but have you ever considered how much toxic waste you're asking me to buy here? Most of this stuf isn't even bio-degradable!' If you couldn't tell by now, Kryst was also a big environmentalist. 'I feel guilty buying this stuf you know. We're killing the environment, and in essence, outselves as well. You should think about that!' Sarah eyed her and then smiled amusedly. 'I will, Kryst. I will.' She began to walk off. Kryst watched her from the door of her room. 'You know, just for this, I'm going to go plant a tree! I won't go and feel guilty just because I work here!' she called out in a playful manner to Sarah. She meant it too, and after putting away her guitar, she went out to her car, and took out a small tree, and a shovel. She went to the front lawn, and began digging a place for the tree. She planted it, then watered it. After she was done, Kryst stood back to look at her tree. She put a yellow ribbon around it and took a picture of it, then raced over to her room to scan it and upload it to the interweb.
Sarah looked out the window and say Kryst planting a tree. She sighed and walked outside. 'Another tree?'
'Yes... I have to plant one for each time I have watched The Two Towers... like I told you... and I have two bushes in the car. Do you mind?'
'Sure... why not,' Sarah walked over to the car and pulled out two small bushes. 'Well, I wont ever have to hire a gardener...' She said and helped Kryst finish planting the two bushes.
[glow=red,2,300] [/glow]
She wiped her hands off on her jeans and studied the plants. 'Looks good,' Sarah said. Kryst stayed outside doing some finishing touches on the plants while Sarah went inside. She began cooking dinner. The time to eat was drawing near.
Kryst walked in and washed her hands in the kitchen sink. 'We should be getting a tree soon.'
'We just got one.'
'No, a Christmas Tree...' Christine walked in when she said that.
'Yes, a Christmas Tree sounds fun. It would lighten up the place a bit,' Christine said. Kryst knew that would mean she were to get it even if Sarah didnt tell her.
Elenna pulled up the parking brake and pulled her keys slowly out of the ignition, turning the car off. She looked out the passenger side window and sighed as she looked at the Bed and Breakfast. She didn't really like small places, in truth, she was a little on the claustrophobic side, but she never would admit it. Lifting her hand, she reached for the door handle and got out of the car with her bags, slowly streching her legs and back as she did so. Finally standing up fully, she reached forward and rubbed her recently enlarged belly protectively with an absent smile.
"Well, here goes nothing." Elenna said with a sudden grin as she slung her purse and bag over one shoulder and slammed the car door closed behind her and walked across the street towards the overly shaded grass on the other side. With a little aprehension, she stared the door down and took a deep breath for the baby's sake. Raising a tight fist, she rapped on the door three times before letting her arm drop instinctively to her stomach.
"It'll be alright sweetheart. Mommy's going to make everything alright." Elenna whispered soothingly to her tummy, but mostly for her own nerves as she heard footsteps coming towards the door.
Kryst looked at her computer screen. Ah, perfect. TFP would be proud! she thought, as she submitted the pic of her newly planted tree. There came a knock at the door. Kryst waited for a moment. More knocking. 'Right...I guess I'll get it, then!!!' she said, as she darted out of her room to the door. Kryst reached for the door, and opened it. She saw a woman standing there, with a few bags, and it looked like she was pregnant.
'Oh please come in! I'm Kryst. You can call me that or Blaze, or KAB, or..anything you like!' she said gleefully. 'Let me get the keeper of this hospitable place! She'll find you a nice room to accomodate all your needs.' Kryst darted off to find Sarah. At last Sarah came back.
'Welcome! You'll be wanting a room, yes? Of course. What is your name?' Sarah asked, taking out a small booklet.
'Elenna.' the woman said. Kryst looked up suddenly and choked. 'Elenna, with two n's?' she asked. Elenna nodded. Kryst smiled a broad smile. 'Star-ward!' she said.
Sarah jotted a few things out in the notebook. 'Let me show you to a room. Are you allergic to cats? If so, I shall give you a room untouched by the little vermins... which some of them certainly are... you might want to stay away from the tabby...'
'No, I am not allergic... thank'ee'
'Here, let me get those for you...' Sarah said, taking the bags from the woman and walking down the hall. It was lit with a few candles hung on the wall: very cozy. She pushed a door open and set the bags in a corner. 'Dinner is at six. You are welcome to join us. How long were you planning on staying?'
Elenna followed Sarah down the hall with a little smile on her face.
"I would hope to stay until the baby comes, or even after. If that's alright with you that is!" She added hurridly. Sarah turned around with a sweet smile lighting her face.
"Of course it is dearie! Now this is your room," She said as she set Elenna's bags down with a small thud. "And you're very welcome to join us for dinner, which is at six as I've said. Now if you need anything, just ask someone and we'll help you find it." Sarah finished with a smile as she winked and walked out of the room, towards the kitchen in most likelyhood, but you could never tell.
Elenna sat down on the bed with a sigh and looked around the room that would be hers for some good amount of time. The walls were covered with an old yellow wallpaper that was full of tiny pink and blue flowers and ribbons, the furniture seemed older styled, like the kind her mother used to have, a darker wood, possibly cherry with intricate corners and such. Her gaze finally fell to the ground, the carpet was a neutrual color tan, simple enough, she thought to herself as she heaved herself off the bed and went to find the bathroom. She had a much more frequent need of it recently as her bladder had decided that it could only hold an hours worth at a time she thought exasperatedly as she looked bewilderedly up and down the hall for the bathroom.
An elderly lady could be seen walkng slowly up to the front of the inn. She had a kindly face with sparkling blue eyes and her white hair was tied up in a bun.
She was holding two large bags in one hand and dragging a suitcase behind her with the other, so she obviously wasn't as frail as her appearance would suggest.
Most curious though, was her odd dress sense. She was wearing a long, navy blue gown with frilled sleeves and she looked quite out of place in modern day life.
She reached the door of the hotel and dropped the two bags gently by her side as she opened the door and entered, the friendly atmosphere hit her instantly and she smiled.
Picking up the bags again she closed the door behind her with her foot and heaved her luggage over to the reception desk and looked around, smiling, her eyes twinkling with tranquil benevolance.
Sarah heard a bell ring from the desk downstairs. She turned once more before heading down there to see Elenna pacing up and down the hall for a bathroom. Rushing over, she pointed her to a door that was partially hidden in a nook. It was an odd place for a bathroom door, but it still worked. After Elenna was in the bathroom, she snickered at the nook and wondered how Agent Lofty were to behave if he were there.
Rushing down the stairs, she saw and elderly woman with a couple of bags. 'Hallo. My name is Sarah, and I own this Bed and Breaky, if you can call it that. May I ask your name?'
Elenna gave a little sigh as she walked out of the bathroom feeling very relived. She turned and looked this way and that down the hall, wondering which way she had come from. With a little shrug she took the left and found her self in the entry room with an overly large cat in the corner. At first she thought it was fake, but then it twitched it's ear, she still thought she was seeing things until it slowly stood up and streched gracefully, although you wouldn't have thought it possible for a cat THAT SIZE to be graceful. She shook her head and continued to walk around and eventualy found herself in the kitchen with Kryst who seemed intent on staring at the paper on the table in front of her, she was staring at it like it would explode at any moment, yet at the same time, like there was something underneath it that she was giving a funeral to.
"Um... Kryst? What are you doing?" She asked timidly, yet proud that she had remembered the girls name.
Kryst's head jerked up and her face looked bitter as she pointed at the paper on the table.
"This! This peice of paper!" She said, spitting the words out like poison. "This unrecycled peice of paper was made at the sacrifice of a beautiful tree! And because of it, the rainforests are dissapearing and the ozone is being eaten up by itself! I hate paper!" She fairly yelled as she stuttered through her speech.
Elenna stood still for a moment, her ears ringing from the short, but somehow humerous rant. It must have been the hormones.
"So, um... Where can I find some pizza?" Elenna asked with a goofy grin.
Kryst stood up and walked to the door where Elenna was. She eyed her visciously, and glared at her. It was enough to make her Uncle Billy cry tears of joy. Elenna was taken aback by the look on Kryst's face. But then Kryst's face changed and she burst out into her normal sheepish smile.
'Pizza? Yes. We'll have pizza. I'll order some up, what would you like on it? Oh! Do you happen to like Lord of the Rings? I'm planning on watching the Fellowship of the Ring tonight, and anyone is welcome to join me.' Kryst ranted on as she walked out of the room, Elenna following close behind, and reached for the phone. They ordered up a pizza, and made arrangements to watch the long movie.
'Let's hope Sarah doesn't oppose. I don't think she will though..' Kryst continued rambling on, Elenna just following and watching bemusedly.
As Kryst prepared to go back to her room to sort out her funds, a fourth cat suddenly appeared. Kryst looked at the sleek, graceful cat, and smiled. She picked him up and held the cat upside down. The cat purred loudly.
'Does he liked to be picked up like that?' Elenna asked.
'He loves it. He's our "cat-coloured jell-o"' she said with a wink as the cat slid out of her arms and landed gracefully on the floor. 'We sometimes call him Frodo, though.'
"Oh of course." Replied the old woman with a pleasant smile, her rosy cheeks dimpling.
"My name is Miss Rigby. First name Eleanor..." She took her black, wool gloves off and put them into a small pocket hidden at the side of her old fashioned dress.
"It's a lovely place this, isn't it?" She exclaimed, looking around the homely place with its warm and welcoming decoration and lavish wallpaper.
"Reminds me of my own home...'cept much bigger!" She chuckled and smiled at Michelle.
"You own the place, young lady?" Eleanor enquired in a friendly manner. She seemed like the talkative type and the lines on her face suggested she had spent a lot of her life smiling. There was an atmosphere of friendliness and instant likeability around her.
'Why yes I do,' Sarah responded, writing down Eleanor Rigby in the book. 'You may stay as long as you like. If you need anything ask Kryst or Christine, who should be around here somewhere... Kryst would probably be wearing a big button with the letters S-A-M on it... not that hard to miss.'
The woman nodded. Sarah took her bags in hand and started to lead her down a hallway, 'If you are ready, I can go show you your room and you can unpack or relax for awhile.'
'That would be fine, thank you,' she said smiling.
Guiding her down a hall she continued, 'There are about three cats roaming around here somewhere... if you are allergic we have a few rooms situated which the cats are not allowed in. They all seem to behave pretty well... just don't mess with that tabby one a lot.'
Sarah opened the door to a certain room, handing Miss Rigby her own key, 'Dinner is at six, and you are welcome to join us. I have added new maps of the building for convenience... but if you are having trouble finding anything, just ask. How long were you planning on staying, Miss Rigby?'
A young woman drove up to the Bed and Breakfast in a red Mini Cooper. She noticed the other cars parked outside. It must be rather full here, she thought. Perhaps I should find someplace else to stay. It was recommended, though, and a friendly atmosphere is what I need. It can't hurt to try-or can it? I'll at least see if they have room.
With that she opened her car door and proceeded to remove her bags from the back seat and the trunk. They filled the whole back of the car, and she had to make several trips to lug them all to the door. She always overpacked, and two of her bags were completely full of books, not to mention her overflowing briefcase. Having set down a medium-sized suitcase, a briefcase, and four miscellaneous bags, she went back to her car for the last thing- a cat carrier. I hope they don't mind cats, she mused. I don't know what I'll do if they say I can't bring Shadow inside. I guess I'll just have to head over to that inn in the next town.
The woman, who looked to be 25 or 26, sighed. She figured that she might as well try. Setting down her cat's carrier, she slowly raised her hand and rang the doorbell. She took care not to ring too long or too hard, as she didn't want to irritate her hosts before they even met her.
