I don't know where everyone was when Andrew hit, but I can bet that they were not in it, and were most likely a few hours away from it, driving distance...
And yes, I have actually sat through an actual hurricane before.. when I was a wee child.. and we lived in a trailer.. and we all survived.

Whoa.. whoa... That storm's looking bad.. real bad... anyone who doesn't live in Florida that isn't paying attention to the news. The way its going, it looks like its going right through Mip and Leo's town, or right above it, and even then, there's gonna be some part of that that hits the surronding area. I don't know where they are... or if they ever left.. but if they didn't its too late now. That thing has 110 mph winds. It's gonna be bad. The way Mip worded Gabriel, it doesn't sound like it was that bad. But it did a lot of damage. Maybe to no one on here, but there was some damage.
That hurricane probably has a ten foot storm surge.. along with 5 inches of rain an hour. If that thing doesn't turn, there will be some people that are learning a lesson. I pray to God they don't have to learn it the hard way. Just because its not raining now. Or nothing looks to bad now, just wait. Because when that thing gets on top of you, there is no escape. Maybe now some people will learn a lesson.. Everyone has just always said to them, 'Oh, it only goes up to the panhandle, or Miami...' well lookie now.

Stay safe, all you guys! I'll worry about you when I'm gone. I'll try to go online at the library there to check up here. Be careful in the hurricane. I'll say a prayer for you to be okay.

Aaaw, thanks. Here's some stuff posted to-day on Charley, if ye want to look at it. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5653487/Eep. Apparently it's one mph short of being Category Three right now, with 10 foot surges during high tide and the like. My school's supposed to be like 5 foot underwater by to-morrow, and our old middle school's acting as a hurricane shelter right now. Eeeerrgh...I've lived here for like 8 years, and I've ne'er had a hurricane come this close.

Exactly. no one knows what one's like... how much damage one can do.. and no one panics.. If we still lived down there, we would have been gone two days ago, no lie. 'Better safe then sorry'
It's a category four right now... thats the worst that could happen! the only way it could get any worse if its a category five! A freaking Category Four! 145 miles per hour! And its not moving.. its gonna hit somewhere, and where and when it does, there's gonna be severe damage.. lives lost... homes lost.. people spending the rest of their lives getting it back! Billions of dollars! Not to mention people dying...

Well, as you all know (most likely), it hit right in Charlotte Harbour. Punta Gorda, actually - which happens to be just exactly where Lëo lives. MSN's been staying fairly updated, and here's the latest on that.. Unfortunately, it says very little of the damage in Port Charlotte. Which makes me mad. No one seems to care enough about Port Charlotte to write about it. On the news it was all Tampa, Tampa, Tampa, and it didn't even hit there! *stabs news people* Anyhow, I know Mip's okay, at least. I'm pretty sure Lëo's alright, but Mip I know for a fact. I think it passed pretty close to where Ala is, but I've heard nothing about Ocala, though it's pretty much in Aunt Orlanda right now and has gone from 145 mph to 140 in wind. Not much of a change. I think Ocala will most likely just receive some fringe storms, but I'm no hurricane expert. I've just learned a lot today by being really worried and reading and watching just as much as ever I could. I'll of course continue to do that, and so I guess I'll keep everyone updated if Ala's out of power as well, and she just might be. All of Port Charlotte is powerless, so we're pretty obviously Mip-less and Lëo-less for the next few days, at least. If I find out anything about the damage and how long the power outages will last, I'll be sure to post it here. Now we just have to wonder how Mip's family's house is.. heh. Ala just signed on and off, so we can be pretty sure they're okay and have power. I suppose she'll be keeping us updated, then, since she knows more about this thing than I do. *yields the podium*

Well thank'ee Mari. *walks up to the podium* Just got off the phone with Mip: they all are fine. And their house sounds like its pretty much in tact. I have no idea about Leo though. But Mip and them traveled to a different city to get something to eat.
The hurrican breezed by here. We only got a little rain. No tornados, which is good. I actually found it sort of.. weird.. the hurricane came through exactly 6 months after we sold our house. We closed on our house Feb. the 13th... And I'm seeing all these places that I've rode by millions of times. An Edgewater and Midway street sign, which I've been on those roads probably thousands of times... its creepy.
Well, the hurricane stayed a category 2 while it was over Florida. Hit Florida first when it was a category 4... Now in South Carolina, which I think it is category 1... They say they have ordered 60 body bags... 5 found dead so far. It was a biggy.. Not to mention all the devestation.. I think it was an estimated 15 billion dollars of damage to be repared... next time, people will be evacuating... and you can bet on that..*steps away from podium*

I'm glad you and Mip are alright. I've been worried about you guys and following the storm to find out where it was hitting and damage extent. I hope we hear from Leo soon.
