I'm not sure if I'm quoting it right, but here's the best I can do. "How are men to chose in such perilous time?" "The same as they always did." replied Aragorn," good and ill have not changed since yesteryear." There is more to it, but I'll have to add that later, cause I'm not sure what it is. They left this part out of the movie!!!

Well, I have many of them!
One I particularly like is "We shall break a good many things yet, and not ask you to answer."
but as far as the movies go..I like
"The fires of Isengard will spread, and the woods of Tuckborough and Buckland will burn. And...and all that was once good and green in this world will be gone. There won't be a Shire, Pippin"
I'll be back with more book quotes, as soon as I pick out the lucky few which I feel should be posted here!

Aragorn's line from the trailer is all ready one of my millions of favourites. "I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. This day we fight!" *shivers* Elrond's line is pretty chilling too. "Become who you were born to be." I'll be back with loads more later.

I'm baaa-aack!
Okay well, this whole section is my favourite so I'll probbly end up taking bits and pieces from it, I'm sorry if it's not in chronological order.
Here's one for starters:
'They've taken everything, Sam,' said Frodo. 'Everything I had. Do you understand? Everything!' He cowered on the floor again with bowed head, as his own words brought home to him the fullness of the disaster, and dispair overwhelmed him. 'The quest has failed, Sam. Even if we get out of here, we can't escape. Only elves can escape. Away, away out of Middle-Earth, far over the sea. If even that is enough to keep the Shadow out.'
Not the happiest quote in the books, but I really like it, I find it sort of symbolic in a way I can't really explain.

Here's another of my many favourites. This one is actually from the books. I just realized that this thread is in the books section. "If Gandalf would go before us with a bright flame, he might melt a path for you," said Legolas. The storm had troubled him little, and he alone in the company remained still light of heart. "If elves could fly over mountains, they might fetch the Sun and save us," answered Gandalf. "But I must have something to work on. I cannot burn snow." -The Fellowship of the Ring I love it! I'm going to have to sit down with the books tomorrow and type up all my favourite quotes (which will be the whole book).

I just now realized this was Movie quotes. Opps. One of my favourite lines in the movie is "If you want him, come and claim him!!!"

I'm ba-a-ack!
I tend to like the depressing quotes in the story, as I find them very symbolic, and am able to piece them into my own life..
here's one:
"But I have been deeply hurt Sam. I tried to save the Shire, and it has been saved, but not for me. It must often be so, Sam, when things are in danger: someone has to give them up, lose them, so that others may keep them." --Frodo

SAM: I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened. But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.
Frodo: What are we holding on to, Sam?
Sam: That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for.
AND:
Gandalf: The battle for Helm’s Deep is over. The battle for Middle-Earth is about to begin. All our hopes now lie with two little hobbits. Somewhere in the wilderness.
For some reason I thougt that battle line was really spiffy...Yeah....and:
MERRY:The fires of Isengard will spread, and the woods of Tuckborough and Buckland will burn. And...and all that was once good and green in this world will be gone. There won't be a Shire, Pippin

Yes, 'tis book quotes. *gives Amarië the e-vile eye* Movie quotes belong in Movie Mayhem. Not trying to be a mean little mod here, but.. yes, let's try to stay on topic. Keep it organized a bit, anyway, by doing so, it might make it easier to find a word for word quote.

What can I say but: " 'Where are you going, Master?' cried Sam, though at last he understood what was happening. 'To the Havens, Sam,' said Frodo. 'And I can't come.' 'No, Sam. Not yet anyway, not further than the Havens. Though you too were a Ring-bearer, if only for a little while. Your time may come. Do not be too sad, Sam. You cannot always be torn in two. You will have to be one and whole, for many years. You have so much to enjoy, and to be, and to do.' " And I won't type out the whole two paragraphs of another one, only the second, shorter paragraph of the two: "But to Sam the evening deepened into darkness as he stood at the Haven; and as he looked at the grey sea he saw only a shadow on the waters that was soon lost in the West. There still he stood far into the night, hearing only the sigh and murmur of the waves on the shores of Middle-earth, and the sound of them sank deep into his heart. Beside him stood Merry and Pippin, and they were silent." I love those parts.

My fave is, of course, by Pippin:
"Strider! How splendid! Do you know, I guessed it was you in the black ships. But they were all shouting corsairs and wouldn't listen to me. How did you do it?"
One of Aragorn's as well...:
"Of all joys this is the least expected!" (that was to Halbarad, I believe...)
I'll be back with more! ;D
