'K, There are Actor and Cast discussions galore on the 'net, but none on the country. This is a place to ask questions about NZ and I will do my best to answer them...or the South Africans, Aussies and Kiwi's can turn it into a Rugby fighting ground...either way.....

Here's a good question... during what season would a ticket from Florida to New Zealand be the cheapest? A one-way ticket prefferably. Actually, I can't imagine LotR being filmed anywhere else, and I'm dying to visit there (though from what I've seen/heard I'll probably have a hell of a time leaving) And and and..weeee!

You'd have to ask your travel agent that...but if you manage to get a ticket, you can stay at my house!

I think I can answer that one for you.... They're rather similar. They're both arcipelagos formed by volcanic activity, and they both have frequent seismic (earthquake) and volcanic disruptions. They have similar climates, in my knowledge (part sub-tropical, part temperate), and if I remember correctly, the only places in the world with geysers are Yellowstone park, Japan, and NZ. I would assume they look sort of the same, because on film that would be the biggest link, one would think. But maybe the camera crew just wanted to go somewhere with earthquakes.

My mom has promised that if we ever get enough money, she will take my family to NZ, 'cause apart from me wanting to go there for obvious reasons, she's wanted to go since the '70's, when someone in her lab in graduate school got to go there. She's interested in all the plants and stuf there, since she's a botonist.
