Isn't the killing of Elbie illegal though? She already said she was alive. Wouldn't that make her murder illegal?

Anyway, it was said if Elbie didn't die, someone else had to. Since Elbie has said she wasn't going to, why was killing Mari illegal?

We can only have cake if we have a funeral. So after killing the orc it would be neccessary to have a proper buriel. A lot of trouble, but in the end we will have cake. *pulls out sword*
