I want to say farewell to Rivendell. This was a very special place for me and all of you became very dear to me. Amarie, you and Rivendell will be something I will always remember. Do not worry about being forgotten.
I'll remember everyone I met here, the zaniness, the squeaky/squirty, giant, inflatable hammers, and of course Agent Lofty.
I hope to still keep in contact with all of you. I believe you all have my AIM, but if you don't, PM me and I'll give it to you. My email address (one of them anyway ) is firondoiel@yahoo.com. I love all of you guys very much and I thank you for making Rivendell such a blessing for me.

I meant as in the idea of Rivendell and the Havens and the members and it being doomed because if it's name. I don't remember who came up with that, but it was on my mind that day so I wrote it down.
Rivendell being closed is final. Mip and I both think it should be closed and have considered closing it before. We just never actually got around to it. As I have said, it is dead. This is the end of it. It is not some attempt to get people to come back or to get attention or anything.. We have decided to go ahead and close it and move on to other things. This was intended to be for farewells, but closing this thread as well seems best appropriate at this time. If anyone has anything else they would like to add that doesn't involve protesting anything said, please PM me and if it is appropriate, I will add it.
I never knew how much I'd write when domranness overtook me.. never knew what I'd say when the loopiness came.. and all I want to do is sit here next to ye and be the same..

PMs will still work. There will be no more updating of any kind. I have consulted Mip, and she agreed with the decision. Everything I said Mip has been informed of and has approved. Everything said still stands. Everything has been closed except this thread. There will be no more posting except here.
I believe it was you I was talking about. I'm not sure what you mean by what was you, actually. I don't remember anything pertaining to that entry, save that I wrote it in class, but I believe you came up with the idea of Rivendell and all, who knows.. I can't recall. It doesn't much matter since the forum is dead and it sums it up nicely.. I added it because it seemed to fit well.

Okay, third question: Mip's an admin, too, so why close it solely of your own volition? Shouldn't you consult the remaining members, i.e. myself, Arwen, and sort of Mip?

I was going through an old journal I had to keep for my English class in eighth grade around the time of the end of Rivendell's climax and the beginning of it's fall. I found this particular entry stood out to me, and it seemed to fit Rivendell's end. Rivendell has been dead for awhile but I just want to put my final word in to any of those who visit again. I'd also like to inform everyone of it's closing.
Here is the entry. I'm not sure what drove me to write this. By the looks of it, I assume it was a conversation with Marigold.. But I don't recall the conversation and am not going to bother searching for it. So here it is, word for word, exactly as I wrote it over a year ago:
April 28, 2004 > wowzers. meep. spifty. snackle. sob. crewd. crude? Rivendell has passed. By calling it Rivendell, I have sent the whole forum into a doom. It is as Rivendell after the Ring War. dead. All the elves have passed into the havens. > For the movies are over. There is no more. But sites such as the Citadel are thriving. Should Rivendell remain as 'tis? Has the name cursed it. Forsaken by something it couldn't control? It is as Marigold said about Mip and I with her away in Morder. I was not thriving to keep Ránewen alive, it was Mip I kept saving. How amazingly brilliant she is! Rivendell, the movies? the elves, the members?! > The movies are over, the members stop posting > The War is over, the elves travel to the havens > It all works out! It sucks but it makes sense! > Should Rivendell become The Shire? > Should it stay the same and fall in honour? > A page of wondering
I walk out of here with all that I had coming in, but I have enjoyed the journey along the way. I wish the best to everyone. And I'd like to put a proper ending to this story. Please don't forget me or our times together. You guys will always have a special place in my heart. I have accepted Rivendell's death, and acknowledged that all I have gained from it is the memories of times here. The forum will be left intact and readable for any who wish to look at old threads, but no one will be able to post any longer. I ask that none of you ask for it to be reopened. It is dead. This is the end. I am looking to the future, because it is all that's left.
This thread will be left open for members who wish to post their farewells and leave contact information for everyone if they wish.
